This session will be held on 21 May, 9:00am - 5:00pm.

Registration closes on 14 May, 2359hrs.

PROGRAMME DESCRIPTION

In recent years, the notion of workplace learning within the local context of Singapore has been positioned by many as an approach to help employers and employees alike, in upskilling and pushing for greater business performance. The harnessing of this phenomena that occurs naturally at the workplace, however, is something that warrants intentional engineering on both the organisational and individual fronts.

This guided workshop is designed to give an appreciation of the potential of workplace learning in practical ways. It will cover the “What”, the “Why”, and touch on practice examples of “How” workplace learning can be used by individuals at the workplace.

Participants will reflect on personal experiences of learning at work and connect it with concepts such as workplace affordances/limitations for learning, including types of workplace learning methods. Frequently used individual-based workplace learning methods such as conducting demonstrations, giving feedback, coaching, active noticing, etcetera, will be explored where participants will have hands-on practices to experience some of these for themselves.

Programme Fee

To ensure course fees remain affordable, SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) will provide 70% subsidy for Singapore Citizens (SC) and Singapore Permanent Residents (PR) for approved SkillsFuture courses. This will be applicable to both self-sponsored and company-sponsored applicants. Self-sponsored applicants can offset the remaining course fees using their SkillsFuture Credit. Eligible applicants can further benefit from other SSG subsidies of up to 90% such as the SkillsFuture Mid-Career Enhanced Subsidy. Applicants who are eligible need only pay the difference between the full fees (set by the Institute) and the government funding from SSG.

Singaporeans aged 25 years old and above are eligible for SkillsFuture Credit which can be used to offset the selected programmes' fees for self-sponsored registrations only. Successful applicants who are Singapore Citizens aged 40 years old and above will be eligible for SkillsFuture Mid-Career Enhanced Subsidy (MCES) of up to 90% of course fees. Refer here for more information: https://www.skillsfuture.gov.sg/enhancedsubsidy.

Please note the submission period for your SFC claim via MySkillsFuture needs to be within 60 days before the course start date (date inclusive). If your course start date is more than 60 days from the date of SFC application, the SSG-SFC portal would reject your application. In this case, you would need to pay the full course fees at the end of your course application.

Advisory and Updates: From 1 October 2023, Singaporean Citizens / Permanent Residents learners who are attending SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG)'s funded courses must take their attendance digitally via the Singpass App for attendance-taking for both physical classroom and synchronous e-learning courses.

Mandatory e-Attendance via Singpass App from 1 October 2023

Singaporean Citizens/Permanent Residents are required to set up your Singpass account and download the Singpass App prior to course commencement. Learners will have to submit a reschedule request, with an applicable fee, if they are unable to do so.

The assessment of the course is based on group work, which requires the class to form small group discussions and presentations to reflect on the barriers they might encounter for effective implementation of workplace learning in their current or previous organisation and the potential mitigations. A Certificate of Completion will be conferred upon meeting at least 75% attendance and participation in the group discussion and presentation.
