Introduction

In this video, you will find 2 parts to induction – orientation and on-boarding. Orientation includes induction that will usually take from a few days to 3 months depending on your employee’s role. Whereas on-boarding is a systematic and comprehensive approach of fully integrating a new employee into a work team. Lookout for the different techniques such as coaching, mentoring and classroom training.

7 Steps to New Employee Induction

  1. Ensure your new employee’s work area is ready and comfortable before your employee starts work.
  2. Make time for the employee and have him/her feel welcome.
  3. Provide the employee with an induction training plan.
  4. Start with the basics.
  5. Provide the employee with a mentor who can guide him/her through the 1st one week to three months.
  6. Assess training needs and send your employee for training (before 3-month/ 6-month confirmation).
  7. Conduct mile-stone reviews with the employee and modify the induction plan to better meet employee’s needs.
